Overview
With several heifers that my parents gave us and a registered bull we purchased by the name of Love Dr, we began our own herd in 2016. We merely focused on expanding our herd and acquiring acreage over the course of the following few years. Really, we're just getting started and learning more about managing a business, caring for the land, and striving to improve our soil through rotational grazing. We came across information regarding pasture-raised chickens, the advantages it has for the soil, and how much superior the meat is than store-bought. The first plan was to merely raise some for ourselves and our family, but when we learned that 75 chickens were needed in a single chicken tractor, we decided to sell some as well.Then once we started learning more and more about regenerative practices, we met people who were selling beef, pork and chicken direct to the consumer and we seen the opportunity to do the same. We have a land we wanted to improve and the best way to do that was to diversify the animals on the rotation.
