On June 2, 2021, Google announced they will be releasing the June 2021 Core Update later that day. Core updates impact how Google ranks websites and how Google determines what is the most relevant web page for a specific query. Like past broad core updates, this update doesn’t target any specific site.
What Can You Expect From This Core Update?
What’s different about this core update is that it’s coming out in two parts, with the first part coming out today, and the second half coming out in July of this year.
Much like the last core algorithm update, here is a list on what to expect:
- Widely notable effects (drops or gains) on search rankings.
- Because of the 2-part release, it’s possible to see small content gains or drops in June and reverse in July.
- Pages that drop in rankings aren’t being penalized, they are being reassessed against other web content.
- A continued focus on providing the best content for your company.
Knowing when Google updates their core algorithm gives us something to look for if it had to do with a change on your website or something Google changed. We know Google will be releasing a core ranking update today, so we are monitoring for updates and will make recommendations if necessary.
As always if you have any specific questions and/or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reply to this email.
